Learning how to knit is one of those things I always intended to do "someday" when I finally made good on my intentions and signed up for a beginning knitting class nine years ago. I was still working on my first sweater (which to this day remains unfinished...) when a friend told me about a workshop in making knit beaded bags. I took the workshop, made a few bags, and got hooked. Encouraged by friends and family, I continued to expand on my designs and began selling my work. One day, while looking around my favorite local bead store, I came across a book (see "process") which started me down another path, that of creating tapestry necklaces. I discovered this art form particularly satisfies my love of working with color and texture.

"Devon Street Studio" is actually a tiny house on a quiet suburban street in Portland, Maine. Although New England has been my home for over twenty-five years now, I am a native of California. I grew up in the Antelope Valley which, at that time, was a fairly sleepy desert community. While I love my adopted state of Maine, the special beauty found in the desert landscape remains dear to my heart, and you just may see hints of my western roots in some of my designs.
Thank you for your interest in my work! - Jenny
